Shipping Updates
AN UPDATE WITH EVERYTHING WE KNOW CURRENTLY!
The quick summary is that this is an issue with USPS. Each shipping company (including ours) is assigned a set of tracking numbers to use and after 100 days those numbers can be recycled.
Essentially USPS didn’t assign our shipping partner enough unique numbers for the volume of packages that they ship. So the tracking numbers started repeating before the 100 day mark. This is causing the outdated tracking information from the previous package to populate on the USPS website.
We’ve been tackling this in a number of ways!
FOR ALL PACKAGES GOING FORWARD:
-
The ultimate fix is for USPS to issue our shipping company a new Mailer Identifier (MID) with more tracking numbers. This has been in the works since yesterday but as you can imagine is not a fast process with a federal agency. We are hoping this portion will be resolved in the next few hours so that all packages going forward are not affected.
-
We’ve paused shipping on all new orders until the MID issue is resolved so that we don’t keep perpetuating the problem. We’re hoping to resume shipping as normal this afternoon and will still be well within our typical fulfillment time!
FOR PACKAGES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN SHIPPED:
-
The current tracking number that you have is correct, even though it’s not displaying properly on the USPS website.
-
USPS can see on their end that packages are scanning properly and are moving through the network as usual to the correct destinations. It’s just the tracking functionality of the USPS website that is not displaying correctly.
-
We are requesting that USPS fix this on their website, but there’s no timeline on that resolution.
FOR TIKTOK ORDERS:
-
We understand the additional pressure that our TikTok shops are feeling related to the late dispatch issues.
-
We’re working closely with our TikTok account rep to provide a list of affected orders + a statement from our shipping company and USPS to demonstrate proof that packages were in fact shipped within the proper fulfillment window.
-
It’s our hope that with this evidence, shops will not be held accountable for something that was 100% out of everyone’s control and purely an error from USPS. We will update more about this as soon as we have info!
Here is a spreadsheet that shows all affected order numbers with an alternative tracking link that you can provide to customers with accurate info:
